[Project] Yarsa Gambu
Call for Experimental Visual Artists
THE MISSION
We are seeking a visionary collaborator to co-create three pivotal "Mystic" sequences for our feature film, Yarsa Gambu. These sequences represent the biological and spiritual metamorphosis of the Kidajadi (Caterpillar Fungus) within the narrative.
Technical & Creative Requirements
We are moving away from traditional 3D/CGI. We are looking for:
Tactile Textures: Macro-cinematography, ink-in-water, or organic hand-drawn charcoal.
Atmospheric Pacing: The ability to visualize the "internal rhythm" of the Himalayas.
Pedigree: You will be working alongside Supervising Editor Sanyukta Kaza and our international mentorship team.
Please email [Your Email] with the subject line: [Artist Name] | Yarsa Gambu Collaboration
Include the following:
Portfolio Link: (Vimeo/Behance/Instagram) focusing on experimental or organic work.
The "Kidajadi" Concept: In 3-4 sentences, tell us how you would visually interpret a caterpillar becoming a plant without using standard CGI.
Availability: Your current capacity for a 2-month collaboration window.
Sequence 1 (Act I): The Genesis of the Spore.
Sequence 2 (Act II): The Internal Metamorphosis.
Sequence 3 (Act III): The Spiritual Ascension/Death.
Timeline: Vetting begins now; work starts post-second cut delivery.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Do I need to be based in the Himalayas to apply?
A: No. While the film is rooted in Himalayan culture, we are looking for the best creative mind globally. The collaboration can be handled entirely remotely via video calls and secure file sharing.
Q: What is the expected timeline for these sequences?
A: We are currently vetting artists. The actual production phase for the mystic sequences will begin once the second-half cut is finalized by our editors. We anticipate a 6–8 week window for completion.
Is this a paid collaboration?
Yes or Collaborative. While we are an independent production, we value artistic labor. Compensation will be discussed with shortlisted candidates based on the complexity of the proposed visual style via contract terms.
I am a 3D animator—can I still apply?
A: Only if your style is "non-digital" in appearance. We are strictly avoiding polished, commercial CGI. If your 3D work looks like organic matter, stop-motion, or charcoal, we would love to see your portfolio.
Q: Can I use AI tools for these sequences?
A: We are open to AI as a tool for texture and concept generation, but the final output must feel organic and "hand-crafted." We are looking for a unique artistic voice, not a generic generated prompt.
Q: Who will I be working with directly?
You will collaborate directly with the Director, Samar Belwal, with oversight from the editing team (Rythem Lath and Supervising Editor Sanyukta Kaza) to ensure the visuals sync with the film's rhythm.
